Flexible working requests

In some countries employees may have the statutory right to request that their working hours or format (i.e. full-time or part-time) is changed, which is referred to as a flexible working request. This is part of the trend where employees have come to expect greater flexibility in their work as demonstrated by the rise of remote and hybrid working.

As part of a flexible working request, an employee may ask to reduce their overall hour's work, change from full-time to part-time, have greater flexibility in their starting and finishing times, start working from home, and a number of other ideas. Whether you agree to such requests depends on your company’s policies but it is a good idea to retain a degree of flexibility with employees if possible.
